Leverkusen and Werder vying for Oztunali

Bundesliga rivals Bayer Leverkusen and Werder Bremen are battling for the signature of German winger Levin Mate Oztunali, according to Bild.

The 19-year-old footballer is currently owned by die Werkself, with his 18-month loan spell at Weserstadion drawing to a close.

However, with the youngster having largely impressed since joining Werder, the club from Bremen will do everything in their power to keep hold of Oztunali at least for another season.

Considering that Bayer Leverkusen are not prepared to cash in on one of their hottest prospects, an extension of the loan deal with Werder is the most likely scenario, with the two clubs set to meet in April to discuss a new arrangement.

Much will depend on whether the Weserstadion outfit can secure Bundesliga survival, as they currently occupy the relegation play-off berth, and are available at 5/2 to get relegated.

The interesting thing is that the two clubs will meet in the DFB Pokal last 16 stage at Bay Arena tomorrow evening.
