Marchisio staying put; Monaco rule out Falcao sale

Italy international midfielder Claudio Marchisio has insisted he is not planning to leave Juventus despite ongoing transfer talk linking him with Arsenal and Manchester United.

Italy international midfielder Claudio Marchisio has insisted he is not planning to leave Juventus despite ongoing transfer talk linking him with Arsenal and Manchester United, Sky Sports understands.

Marchisio, who has earned 41 international caps for the Azzurri, has been attracting significant interest from abroad over the past few seasons.

However, the 27-year-old midfield maestro has always maintained he is more than happy to stay in his native Turin.

“I want to continue winning with this jersey, I have no intention to change,” he told the Bianconeri’s official television channel JTV.

“But every year, especially in summer, there have been rumours that involved me.

“In addition to this one, I have another two years on my deal with Juventus.

“I hope to play as long as possible with this jersey, it’s not my intention to change.”

Although Marchisio has yet to tally a goal or an assist in 20 appearances across all competitions for Juve in 2013/14, he is a major reason why Antonio Conte’s side are sitting atop the league table.

The reigning Italian champions will play host to second-place AS Roma when Serie A resumes in the New Year.

Monaco rule out Falcao sale

AS Monaco vice-chairman Vadim Vasilyev has ruled out the possibility of Colombian ace Radamel Falcao leaving the Stade Louis II in the near future.

Falcao, who joined Monaco from Atletico Madrid for a fee believed to be in the region of €60 million in the summer, is the subject of interest from Chelsea and Manchester United.

The Colombia international, 27, is reportedly  unsettled in France and could force through a move when the transfer window re-opens in January or after next year’s World Cup finals in Brazil.

However, vice-chairman Vasilyev has suggested the club’s superstar is not for sale.

“People believe it is suspicious to have such a great player in France,” said Vasilyev. “They ask ‘When will he leave? In January or in June?’

“We have always stated that Falcao is essential to our project. He allows us to hire other players and build a whole team.”

Falcao has bagged nine goals in 15 Ligue 1 appearances for Monaco this season, but is currently sidelined due to injury.

When asked about speculation linking Monaco with Vincent Kompany and Eliaquim Mangala, Vasilyev added:

“Vincent Kompany or Eliaquim Mangala? I won’t confirm we could hire them. We are also thinking about younger players.

“People talk about Victor Valdes, because he will be a free agent and he is a friend of Eric Abidal. That was the link.

“Valdes is a great player, I can’t say more.”
