Mario Gomez seals Stuttgart return

The German media outlet Kicker has reported that Wolfsburg striker Mario Gomez is on the verge of signing a deal with Stuttgart.

In the meantime, Bundesliga side have confirmed the reports on their official webiste..

The 32-year-old German international forward has been with Wolfsburg since 2016. Having arrived from Besiktas, the former Bayern Munich and Fiorentina striker made 35 Bundesliga appearances last season and scored 17 goals.

This year, however, he only managed one goal in 12 league games and it appears that his time in Wolfsburg is coming to an end with reports of a January move back to Stuttgart.

Gomez began his professional career at Stuttgart where he made 121 league matches in six years at the club before joining Bayern Munich in 2003.

Widely recognized as one of the most lethal striking forces in Europe during the last decade, Mario Gomez is now making an emotional return home with Stuttgart searching for reinforcements in attack after seeing Simon Terodde moving to FC Koln.
