Paris Saint-Germain have completed the signing of Javier Pastore from Palermo, in a deal worth 42 million euros.
The 22-year-old has signed a five-year contract with Antoine Kombouare’s outfit, who were bought out earlier in the summer by the Qatar Investment Authority.
A short statement from the club’s directors released on Saturday confirmed the transfer, which finally decides the fate of the Argentine international.
“Javier Pastore has signed for five seasons with PSG. He will wear number 27,” PSG said in a statement.
“The Argentina midfielder will be presented to the press on Monday afternoon at the Parc des Princes.”
English Premier League giant Chelsea were also said to be chasing the Argentine, but could not match the offer made by PSG.
The Argentine playmaker is the latest in a string of captures this summer by PSG, who make him their third raid on Serie A, following the previous arrivals of goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu and forward Jeremy Menez.
“I am very eager to begin this new phase. They explained the project and immediately seduced me to the challenge,” said Pastore.
“Winning the local tournament and the cup – I want the team to succeed in everything.”
“In particular I will give my best in every game. It makes me immensely happy that they trusted me.”
