Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers believes any decision on Andy Carroll’s future will be made quickly.
Carroll has been on loan at West Ham this season in an attempt to play regularly, with Rodgers not seeing the forward as part of his first-team plans.
With a 15 million-pound bid for Carroll from West Ham reported to have been accepted by Anfield bosses, the former Newcastle United man may be set for a permanent move to the capital and Rodgers is keen for the situation to be resolved quickly.
“At the start of the season the whole thing was about going and getting games because he wasn’t going to be a starter here,” he told The Guardian.
“We will talk again with him and the club to see how it all evolves. It’s one of those situations where it will probably be resolved a lot quicker than that for both parties.”
As well as West Ham, Carroll, who was recently withdrawn from the England squad because of a heel injury, was also linked with a return to Newcastle, although the substantial fee appears to have put the St James’ Park club off.
In terms of potential destinations and transfer fees, Rodgers admitted that it is out of his hands but explained he and Carroll will discuss the player’s future before the transfer window closes on August 31.
“It’s just something we need to assess between now and the end of window,” the Northern Irishman continued.
“In terms of the money, that’s something out of my control. But he’s a talent so we will assess the whole situation.
“The objective at the beginning of the season was for him to go out and play. He’s gone away to think of what we spoke about and we will talk again through the weeks.”
