United and Chelsea battle for Lille hotshot

According to English newspaper Daily Mail, Manchester United and Chelsea are locked in the battle for Lille defender Lucas Digne.

The English Premier League giants have been alerted of the player’s potential and are closely following his performances with a view of making an official bid next summer.

The 19-year-old is a product of Lille youth academy and is already considered a first team regular at Grand Stade Lille Metropole.

Les Dogues have signed full-back Djibril Sidibe from Troyes in the summer in order to reinforce the left side of defence, but Digne has successfully sustained the challenge from the fellow youngster.

Despite his fragile age, Digne has already made 23 Ligue 1 appearances for the French giants, but has yet to make on the scoresheet in a league game.

The player, who is part of France Under-19 side, has, however, netted once in 3 Champions League games this season.
