United to hijack Chelsea bid for Van Ginkel

Daily Express is reporting that Manchester United are set to rival Chelsea for the signature of Vitesse midfielder Marco van Ginkel.

United chief scout Jim Lawlor has been watching the player at the Under-21 European Championship in Turkey, which is enough to suggest the Reds are readying bid for the player’s services.

David Moyes is believed to have been impressed by the talented footballer and he hopes to lure him to Old Trafford this summer.

However, the fact Chelsea are also keen could prove to be a problem since the Blues have the first option on all Vitesse players due to their link with the Dutch club.

Jose Mourinho has been alerted of the player’s potential and he is expected to bring him to Stamford Bridge in the summer transfer window.

Marco van Ginkel has enjoyed a remarkable season in the Dutch top flight, scoring 8 goals and setting up as many in 33 Eredivisie matches.
