Villa set to move for Cole

Aston Villa are eyeing a move for former England international Ashley Cole, according to the Metro.

The Midlands club currently sit rock bottom of the Premier League and manager Remi Garde is on the lookout for reinforcements as he attempts to steer them away from trouble.

The former Lyon boss is particularly on the lookout for a left back following the news that Jordan Amavi will be out for the remainder of the season.

With a wealth of Premier League experience, Cole would fit the bill ideally and he is set to be available on a free transfer next month having fallen out of favour with Roma.

The thirty-four year old hasn’t made a single appearance for the Serie A side this season and played just sixteen times for them in the 2014/15 campaign.

Villa are still searching for their first league win since their opening day victory against Bournemouth, and are now priced at 1/5 to be relegated.
