9 October 2011: Transfer Rumours Sunday

It’s on October but there have been numerous rumours floating around the web as of late.

From North London to Liverpool to Manchester, the rumours are picking up a head of steam ahead of the January transfer window.

This edition of Transfer Rumours Sunday promises to be the best one yet. Enjoy.

Arsenal

Surely the most shocking rumour of them all, Gunners winger Theo Walcott has been linked with a move to Serie A giants Juventus.

Despite the speculation, Walcott’s agent Colin Gordon told calciomercato.it, “Juventus have never called us. We have not received calls from Italy recently.”

Gordon left the door open when asked about Walcott’s long-term future, he said, “”We’ll see. I don’t know what will happen.”

Liverpool

Kenny Dalglish is reportedly keen on battling Europe’s top clubs for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Shinji Kagawa.

Kagawa has also drawn the interest of Manchester United, AC Milan, and Juventus. He is currently rated at £18m.

The 22-year-old Japanese international is by definition a goal-scoring and play-making midfielder.

In 164 club appearances, Kagawa has bagged 71 goals. The Japanese star has added 7 international goals in 25 caps for his country.

Kagawa is thought to be the future of Asian football, and rightfully so.

Manchester City

Did I say that Walcott to Juventus was the most shocking rumour in today’s edition of Transfer Rumours Sunday?

Well, I lied. But trust me, this rumour will satisfy your craving for soccer news.

Carlos Tevez’s agent Peppino Tirri has linked the out of favour forward to a sensational move to of all clubs, Manchester United. Now then, this is most likely just press talk, but wow.

Tirri has also come to terms that Tevez is likely to depart City in January, following the Argentine’s alleged refusal to enter a Champions League match versus Bayern Munich.

“I really think at this point Tevez will be sold during the next market window,” said Tirri.

“Where will he end up? I think the hypothesis is not currently viable at Inter: Inter do not need him, they have already forwards like Forlan, Milito, Pazzini, Zarate and Castaignos.

“The same is true when it comes to Real Madrid. More plausible is the road to Juventus which would certainly be more convenient.

“Do not discard the possibility that he could still stay in England and maybe return to United.”

Manchester United

Bulgarian talisman Dimitar Berbatov is being targeted by Valencia. The La Liga side are expected to launch a £12m bid for Man United striker.

Berbatov has virtually been a spectator in 2011-12, failing to score in his five appearances for the Red Devils.

The Bulgarian’s contract expires in 2012, giving Manchester United a big incentive to sell their out of favour forward in the January window.

In other transfer news surrounding Old Trafford, the Red Devils are reportedly keen on €22m Dutch delight Ricky van Wolfswinkel and Benfica winger Nico Gaitan.
