AC Milan defender Ignazio Abate believes injuries and suspensions are starting to take their toll on the club.
The San Siro side were beaten 2-1 by Fiorentina on Saturday, and consequently dropped to second spot in the Serie A table behind Juventus, much to the disappointment of the right-back.
“The suspensions and injuries take their toll and there will not be many (players) available for selection against Chievo. We’ll have to keep on fighting all the same, though. It’s a difficult moment for us,” Abate told reporters.
“We’re not playing as well as we can. But we’re not going to cry about it. There are a lot of games left and things will turn our way again. We have to try and not make any mistakes in these last games.
“We hope Juventus will slip up as well, but it shouldn’t have happened with us. We’ve been playing every three days and I don’t want to make excuses, but physically we’re not in great shape. We’ll have to grit our teeth now and push on.”
AC Milan’s next Serie A match is away to Chievo on Tuesday.
