Palermo midfielder Afriyie Acquah says he has reached a stage where a call-up to the Ghana senior team is something he can attain.

The 19-year-old told Reuters he believes a national team place is now possible, following a phone call to tell him that Ghana coach Goran Stevanovic is monitoring his progress.

“I hope I will get a chance to play for the national team,” Acquah said. “I got a call to say the coach is watching me and I should be ready as he could call any time. I think I’m ready now.”

Turning his attention to club football, the starlet revealed his dream to move to England in the future but he conceded that will take a great deal of hard work.

“Right now I can’t play in England because I’m not playing 70 percent of the games for my national team,” he said.

“I want to play at Palermo for two or three years more before I play for a big club.”

“But if I get an offer I think I have to go because I want to play in the Champions League. My agent told me four or five clubs wanted me this season, including Napoli and Rangers, but at the moment I’m staying put.”

The Ghanaian has a five-year deal with Palermo, running until 2016.
