Adebayor agrees permanent deal with Spurs; Tonietto praises PSG

Emmanuel Adebayor has agreed to terms on a permanent deal with Tottenham Hotspur following his season-long loan with the north London club last term, according to The Telegraph.

This news comes one day after Andre Villas-Boas dubbed Adebayor as one of his main summer targets.

“It would be a lie if I tell you we are not looking for a striker,” said Villas-Boas.

“And of course Ade is part of that list. We are extremely willing to have Adebayor on board with us.”

Adebayor bagged 17 goals and 11 assists in 33 appearances while on loan at White Hart Lane in 2011-12.

The former Togo international is Andre Villas-Boas’ third signing since taking over the reigns from Harry Redknapp.

The Portuguese has also sealed the signatures of Gylfi Sigurdsson and Jan Vertonghen. AVB beat out Liverpool and bitter north London rivals Arsenal for Sigurdsson and Vertonghen.

Tonietto praises PSG

Thiago Silva’s agent Paulo Tonietto has praised Paris Saint-Germain, claiming that the Ligue 1 club will be the biggest club in Europe in 2-3 years time, Fox Soccer understands.

The Brazil international looks destined for the Parc des Princes following massive speculation that he and star forward Zlatan Ibrahimović are set to sign for Paris Saint-Germain.

AC Milan president Silvio Berlusconi announced that he sold Ibra and Silva to the French outfit yesterday.

“Yes, I have sold Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva to PSG,” Berlusconi revealed.

“We save 150 million euro over two years.”

Despite Berlusconi’s revelation, Ibrahimovic’s infamous agent Mino Raiola, who also represents Mario Balotelli, told sportmediaset.it that a deal is far from being agreed upon.

According to Italian sources, PSG have offered Ibra a four-year contract worth a cool €9 million per season. With that said, the Swedish striker is keen on inking a new three-year deal worth a whopping €15 million per season. Can you say bumper deal?

Now then, back to Thiago Silva. The 27-year-old defender signed a long-term extension with the Rossoneri earlier this summer, but the player’s agent is adamant that his “new deal” will not prevent any negotiation with PSG.

“He renewed his contract because he felt valued and because Milan requested that,” Tonietto told Globo Esporte. “But that won’t prevent any negotiation.

“You can write it – PSG will be the biggest team in Europe in two or three years, even if they don’t sign Thiago Silva and Ibra.

“I know the structure and the people that work there. They have great potential.

“Besides, they aren’t being affected by the economic crisis, unlike most European clubs.”

Will Thiago Silva and Zlatan Ibrahimović join PSG this summer?
