Manchester United coach Rene Meulensteen has revealed that the club are keeping a close eye on highly-rated Ajax player Christian Eriksen.
The Danish international has long been linked with a move to the Premier League after bursting onto the scene in the Netherlands, and the Old Trafford club are thought to be keen on signing midfielders in the January transfer window.
However, while the 19-year-old is being monitored by United, coach Meulensteen has denied that an offer is imminent.
“This is a player that is on our radar,” Meulensteen told Voetbal International.
“But that is to be expected. If people weren’t looking, no-one would ever have an opinion on these players.”
“It is true that a player like Eriksen would fit our transfer policy.”
“He is being strongly linked with us, but to suggest that we are about to make a move is not true.”
The teenager is believed to have caught the eye of a host of teams across the continent, including Champions League holders Barcelona.
