Alberto Gilardino completes Bologna move

Serie A side Bologna have announced the signing of striker Alberto Gilardino from Genoa for an undisclosed fee.

The Rossoblu have been very active in the summer transfer window, having already signed Marco Motta, Cesare Natali, Manolo Gabbiadini and Michele Pazienza, among others.

However, they appeared to be unable to sign a replacement for star striker Marco Di Vaio, who had joined Montreal Impact, only to secure the signing of Alberto Gilardino on transfer deadline day.

The 30-year-old arrive at Renato Dall’Ara following a somewhat disappointing spell with Genoa that saw him score just 4 goals in 14 Serie A appearances.

It is important to point out that only two players still active in Serie A have scored more goals than Gilardino, so there’s no denying Bologna have got themselves a great player.

In total, the experienced striker has scored 146 goals in 374 Serie A appearances, while playing for six different clubs.
