Massimiliano Allegri believes Sulley Muntari’s disallowed goal in AC Milan’s 1-1 Serie A draw against Juventus on February 25 could be decisive.
The Ghana international beat Juve goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon with a header from close range, but the referee failed to spot that the ball had crossed the line and waved play on.
Allegri has not forgotten about the incident, though, and has pointed out that both sides could be level on points now with four rounds remaining had Muntari’s goal been given.
“I believe that the referees have been doing very well this season. There is only one incident that has really affected the title race and that’s Muntari’s goal,” Allegri told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“If Juventus win the title by three points, as it stands now, that single incident will have been decisive.”
Milan travel to Siena on Sunday.
