Allegri questions referee calls

AC Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri said the referee got several key decisions wrong in his side’s 2-2 Serie A draw at Bologna on Sunday.

The Rossoneri coach admitted that Bologna deserved a penalty for a Clarence Seedorf handball, but felt that referee Gianluca Rocchi affected both teams with poor decisions

Rocchi controversially denied Bologna a spot-kick after Seedorf appeared to have handled inside his own area, while he awarded the visitors a penalty in the 72nd minute despite what seemed to be a dive from Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

“I’ve seen the situation again and Seedorf indeed seemed to handle the ball. However, toward the end a similar situation didn’t result in a spot-kick for us either,” a forthright Allegri told reporters.

“As for Ibrahimovic’s penalty, I think that he dived in order to win a spot-kick.”

“The referee got it wrong, but his decisions went against both teams and not just against one of the two, so it evens itself out.”

The draw saw Milan miss an opportunity to go top of Serie A, and they now sit third in the table with 28 points from 14 games.
