“Anything is possible” – Arsenal boss Arteta on Lacazette future

Speaking to the press ahead of Arsenal’s clash with Aston Villa on Friday at the Emirates, manager Mikel Arteta praised the influence of striker Alexandre Lacazette in the 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace. Lacazette produced a fine cameo performance in the match and grabbed a point for his team with a very late equalizer.

Nonetheless, the 30-year-old hasn’t started a single Premier League match this season, and with his current deal set to expire next summer, speculation around his future is heavy at the moment. Atletico Madrid have been credited with interest in his services in the past, and more recently, Inter Milan, following the departure of Romelu Lukaku to Chelsea.

Arteta was unable to confirm that Lacazette’s future was settled one way or the other. Asked directly if the club had ruled out the possibility of offering the Frenchman a new contract, he said it wasn’t the case and anything was still possible.
