April 10th: Wednesday’s English Double – 4/1 Special, Betting Tips & Predictions

While the Champions League quarter-finals might steal most of Wednesday’s headlines, there are a host of noteworthy English affairs on the cards in midweek.

With respective battles at both ends of the Championship table starting to reach a boiling point, we have plenty of intriguing betting markets.

For those of you who are looking to stick on a midweek flutter, we have found a pair of English betting tips that could be worth keeping an eye out for.

19:45 FC Halifax vs Oldham

Although Halifax might have eventually fallen short last season in their bid to punch a play-off ticket, Wednesday’s hosts are certainly firing on all cylinders this time around. Receiving a string of praise from across the National League this year, Chris Millington’s men find the mood in their camp at a red-hot high.

Last seen clinching a 2-0 victory away at Kidderminster, the Shaman have won five of their previous seven fifth-tier appearances and they will be looking to pick up a season-defining victory in midweek.

Losing just a pair of their last 11 National League outings, Halifax should also be excited by their continued purple patch in front of their own supporters.

Including a stunning 4-2 victory against Chesterfield last month, the Blues have collected 13 points from their previous five National League battles in Yorkshire.

Although Halifax might have failed to muster a single clean sheet in front of their own supporters since way back on New Year’s Day, Millington’s men will certainly be looking to make a deciding marker in midweek.

While Oldham might still be dreaming of the chance to book a late play-off ticket this month, Wednesday’s guests are in the midst of a public rut.

Opening April with a toothless 1-0 loss away at Altrincham, the Latics have failed to muster a single victory from any of their previous eight National League appearances.

Along with collecting just a single point from their previous three National League showdowns on the road, Oldham have also failed to find the net away from Boundary Park in almost 300 minutes of action.

Likewise, suffering a 2-1 defeat when they welcomed Halifax to town for their reverse meeting on August 15th, we are expecting a similar outcome here.

20:00 West Brom vs Rotherham

Although West Brom might still find themselves sat firmly in the driving seat to punch a crucial play-off ticket this season, Wednesday’s hosts are seeking somewhat of a Championship boost here. Forced to settle for a single point in all of their three appearances since returning from March’s international break, the Baggies will certainly be smelling a golden opportunity this weekend.

Now having to settle for respective 2-2 stalemates against Stoke and Watford since opening April, Carlos Corberan’s men are certainly seeking some recent defensive stability.

However, heading into the fortnight interval with a routine 2-0 victory against Bristol City, West Brom are unbeaten in all of their previous nine Championship appearances.

Opening the midweek fixtures holding a commanding six-point buffer from slipping out of the play-off places, the former Huddersfield boss has seen his squad bag at least a pair of goals in six of their previous seven outings.

With former Salford starlet Brandon Thomas-Asante notching 10 Championship strikes this season and leading the route for the Baggies’ Golden Boot, Rotherham will certainly face another stern examination here.

Breaking a string of unwanted records this season and sat rock-bottom of the table, Wednesday’s guests have remarkably collected just 23 points from their 41 Championship appearances.

Marking their return from March’s international break with a 3-0 drumming away at Preston, the Millers have collected just a single win from any of their previous 18 straight appearances across all competitions.

Suffering consecutive 5-0 drumming against Norwich and Coventry last month, the Yorkshire-based outfit have also continued to gain a real reputation for their glaring defensive issues.

Shipping a remarkable 82 Championship goals so far this season, Rotherham have shipped 22 goals in just their last six contests on the road.
