Arsenal to launch assault on Dempsey

Arsenal are stepping up their interest in Fulham forward Clint Dempsey, Daily Mail has revealed.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is eager to sign a new centre forward to act as a cover for Robin van Persie and after his interest in Lukas Podolski appears to have cooled off, the Frenchman is ready to pursue other targets.

According to Daily Mail, Wenger wants to sign Fulham striker Clint Dempsey and has had the player scouted on a number of occasions this season.

The French boss is ready to test Fulham’s resolve with an official bid for the player’s services after receiving glowing reports from his scouting team.

The 29-year-old has developed into one of the most prolific forwards in English Premier League and has been earning rave reviews for his performances this season.

The USA international has scored 16 goals in 33 league games this term, while scoring another 6 in FA Cup and Europa League.
