Barcelona are keeping tabs on Genoa’s Krzysztof Piatek, according to Sport.
The Polish striker, who has been nicknamed ‘the new Lewandowski’, started his career in his homeland with fourth-tier club Lechia Dzierzoniow in 2012. A year later he moved to Ekstraklasa side Zaglebie Lubin where he spent three and a half seasons before moving on to Cracovia. The Serie A club signed him this summer for a reported fee of €4million.
Barcelona had a decent enough summer regarding transfers, though they did not succeed in signing a ready-made replacement for Andres Iniesta. Manchester United’s Paul Pogba and Paris Saint-Germain’s Adrien Rabiot had been heavily linked but neither move materialized in the end.
But one of the biggest issues the Catalans are set to face in the coming years is securing long-term replacements for the phenomenal quality upfront, personified in the likes of Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez who have both passed the 30-year mark. Therefore it only makes sense for them to closely follow the development of upcoming talented attackers like Piatek.
