Baresi: Allegri deserves more time

AC Milan legend Franco Baresi has urged the fans to remain patient with under-fire coach Massimiliano Allegri.

Allegri’s side have been struggling to find their best form this term following the exit of several key players, and sit only joint 11th in Serie A.

“Allegri guided Milan to the Scudetto in 2011 and the team came in second last season. Fans should not be impatient,” Baresi told Sky Sports Italia.

“He needs time to put together a new team again. He has to gain confidence in his players and the youngsters are still developing. He deserves more time so he can get the best out of the team.

“A lot of players left the club at the same time and that’s inevitably caused some problems. Patience is needed.

“I’m confident that Milan will return to the highest level. Milan will always remain a big team, that’s always competitive.”

Milan will be looking to return to winning ways on Saturday when they take on Lazio.
