Bayern ‘won’t panic too much’ after suffering first loss of the season to Arsenal, insists Kane

Harry Kane insisted that Bayern Munich “won’t panic too much” despite seeing their 18-match unbeaten streak come to an end at the hands of familiar Champions League rivals Arsenal on Wednesday.

Vincent Kompany’s side were comfortably second-best at the Emirates Stadium, undone by goals from Jurrien Timber, Noni Madueke and Gabriel Martinelli in a resounding 3–1 defeat, with Lennart Karl on target for the visitors.

Bayern had previously enjoyed an overwhelmingly dominant record against the Gunners, going unbeaten in their last five meetings (W4 D1), with three of those victories ending in emphatic 5–1 scorelines.

But it was a different story this time around as Arsenal’s incredible set-piece prowess once again proved decisive, lifting Mikel Arteta’s team to the top of the Champions League table.

Reflecting on the loss, Kane dismissed the notion of panic setting in, pointing instead to the consistency Bayern have shown across the season.

“It was a tough game which is kind of what we expected,” he told TNT Sports. “It was a good battle in the first half, which was fairly even.

“Second half we didn’t quite have the same energy or intensity and we lost too many duels.

“It’s our first loss of the season. We don’t want to panic too much about it. But we will learn about it for sure.”

Kane had an individually indifferent outing at the Emirates, completing 90 minutes for Bayern without attempting a single shot for only the third time since joining the club in 2023 (previously in October 2023 against FC Copenhagen and August 2025 against FC Augsburg).

It was also just the second time in his 22 career appearances against Arsenal that he failed to register a shot.

“[Arsenal] won the first and second balls, and on set pieces, we knew they would be dangerous,” he added. “I’m sure we’ll see them again in the later stages of the Champions League.

“They defended man for man pretty much all over the pitch. As I said, I don’t think it’s time to panic.

“We have played Chelsea, and Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal away and we have won the majority of our games.”

Bayern head coach Vincent Kompany was also asked about Mikel Arteta’s claim that Bayern are currently the best team in Europe, but the Belgian quickly downplayed the label.

“We had this discussion three weeks ago when we played PSG,” he said. “They were mentioning the same thing.

“I don’t think any of us want to be the best team in November. We’re trying to use everything now to build our season towards being there in the important moments.”
