Aim and object of the event is to aid Gol Amigo, a charity project for poor children in Brazil, which is supported by Diego since a long time. Furthermore the event aims at enhancing the fast growing Beach Soccer sport in Germany, as Diego likes the fast soccer version on sand, and aboive all, due to his Brazilian origin, he is a very smart and skilled beach soccer player.

The Event will start on May 20, 2008 at 11 am. Prior to the Charity match all visitors are invited to prove and demonstrate their skills with a ball on the beach. One week before the big showdown takes place at Lake Baldeney, the national Beach Soccer team Germany will compete for its International Qualification for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Marseille 2008. With a bit of luck, Diego & Friends will have to play against winners!

“I played beach soccer many times at the beach in Santos, because I have always like the game that requests good physical strenght with technical skills, hability, and quickness. I am certain that this will be a winning event, because its objective is to help the kids in need in Ribeirão Preto,” said Diego.

“We´re happy and proud to work together with such an extraordinary athlete and support his aid project. The match against Diego & Friends will be a unique challenge for our national Beach Soccer team Germany. As international Beach Soccer in the meantime is played on a highly professional level, we hope that this charity performance in Essen will also push and promote Beach Soccer in Germany,” noted Christian Dau, managing director of sportsandevents GmbH.
