Benfica are readying summer swoop for Estoril defender Steven Vitoria, according to Portuguese newspaper O Jogo.

The Eagles plan to cash in on centre-back Jardel in the summer, but they already seem to have a replacement in place.

According to O Jogo, Benfica are preparing a summer bid for Estoril stopper Steven Vitoria.

The Canadian-born defender has caught the eye of top European clubs with his performances at Estoril and he is widely tipped to leave his current employers in the summer.

Vitoria was recently linked with a move to Schalke, but it appears Benfica have moved to the front of the queue for the player’s signature.

While impressing the visiting scouts with his defensive qualities, the 26-year-old has proved to be a big threat for the opposing defenders as well, having scored no less than 15 league goals over the last two seasons.

He has represented Portugal Under-19 and Under-20 sides but is also eligible to play for the national team of Canada.
