Napoli have announced the appointment of Rafael Benitez as Walter Mazzarri’s successor.

The Italian outfit’s president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, confirmed the news on his official Twitter account on Monday, though the length of Benitez’s deal has yet to be confirmed.

The Spaniard last managed in Italy with Inter in 2010, but was sacked after just six months in charge following a poor start to their league season.
But, after rebuilding his reputation by guiding Chelsea to 2013 UEFA Europa League glory as the club’s interim boss, the 53-year-old has been picked up by the Naples outfit.
Benitez had also been linked with Paris Saint-Germain, with the French side reportedly likely to lose Carlo Ancelotti to Real Madrid.
Napoli finished second to Juventus in the 2012-13 Serie A campaign.
