Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema wants to draw Marseille in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

La Liga leaders Real beat CSKA Moscow 4-1 in the round-of-16 second leg on Wednesday to book their place in the last eight.

Marseille meanwhile defeated 2010 winners Inter Milan 2-1 on aggregate a day earlier.

And Benzema hopes to go up against the only remaining team from Ligue 1 in the next stage.

“As a Frenchman, I would like to meet Olympique de Marseille in the quarter-finals. However, at this stage of the competition, there are only great teams left,” Benzema said.

“We all knew what had to be done against CSKA and we all gave a great performance. All that mattered was reaching the next round. We are well aware of the importance of this competition.”

The draw for the Champions League quarter-finals and semi-finals takes place in Nyon on Friday.
