Signing off April with a 1-0 win at home against Verona, the former Marseille boss has also seen his squad muster 10 points from just their previous four Serie A appearances. Rightfully pencilled in as a standout contender this weekend, Lazio have also gained a real reputation for their success at the Stadio Olimpico. Including a routine 4-1 romp against Salernitana on April 12th, Tudor’s side have won all of their last four consecutive showdowns in front of their own supporters by an aggregate score of 8-2.
As for the visitors, although Empoli might have sprung a major upset last month as they secured a 1-0 victory at home against now-former Italian champions Napoli, Davide Nicola’s men find themselves at the heart of a Serie A relegation scrap. Last seen missing out on what they had billed as a real opportunity as they had to settle for a 0-0 stalemate against Frosinone at the Stadio Carlo Castellani, Sunday’s guests open this weekend’s fixtures holding just a two-point buffer from slipping into the drop zone. Signing off April with a routine 2-0 defeat at the hands of Atalanta, the Florence-based outfit have claimed just a pair of wins from any of their previous nine Serie A appearances. With time starting to tick away, Empoli will also be concerned by their glaring issues on the road. Including a toothless 1-0 loss against Lecce last month, it should be highlighted that Nicola’s men have lost all of their previous four away fixtures by an aggregate score of 6-0.
