New Fulham signing Dimitar Berbatov says that manager Martin Jol’s belief in him will aid his performances on the pitch.

The ex-Manchester United forward joined Fulham in last month’s transfer window for a fee reported to be around 6.2 million euros.

After making the move from Old Trafford to west London, the 31-year-old Bulgarian has instantly settled in at Craven Cottage, scoring twice in his full debut against West Brom on Saturday.

The former Tottenham man, who played under Jol at White Hart Lane, revealed that he is confident of impressing for his new side due to the trust shown in him by the Dutchman, adding he hopes to pay back that faith.

“If I feel the coach is trusting my ability then I can do special things on the pitch,” he told reporters.

“Now that I play for Fulham, I just want to show that I appreciate that they took me to the club. I know the coach, he trusts me.

“I feel good if the coach trusts the way I play and you saw that with the way I performed on the pitch.”
