Shakhtar Donetsk have completed the signing of Bernard from Brazilian side Atletico Mineiro.

The promising playmaker joins the Ukrainian champions on a five-year contract in deal worth €25million.

He bolsters a Shakhtar side that has seen the likes of Fernandinho and Henrikh Mkhitarayan leave the club in the close-season.

Shakhtar have won their first four games in the Ukrainian Premier League this season, and will undoubtedly be hoping that the Brazil international can inspire them to success in both domestic and European competition.

Bernard won the Copa Libertadores with Mineiro in July, and he will now have the chance to showcase his talents in the UEFA Champions League, a competition in which Shakhtar reached the last 16 in 2012-13.

Shakhtar have now signed four Brazilians in the transfer window, with Bernard linking up with attacking midfielders Fred and Wellington Nem, and defensive midfielder Fernando at the Donbass Arena.

Bernard scored seven goals in 25 appearances in 2013 for Mineiro.
