Bitesize Prediction: Aberdeen vs St. Johnstone – 28/02/24

Competition: Scottish Premiership

Market: Over 1.5 goals

Odds: 2/5 @ 1xBet

Two sides who are seeking a much-needed Premiership boost on Wednesday night, Aberdeen will welcome St. Johnstone to Pittodrie.

Starting with the hosts, while Aberdeen might have opened up the New Year in the midst of an eye-catching run, interim boss Neil Warnock has seen his squad come crashing back down to earth. Last seen over the weekend putting in another worrying display as they slumped to a routine 2-0 loss at the hands of Kilmarnock, the Dons have failed to win any of their previous eight straight Premiership appearances. With that extended crisis stemming all the way back to a 3-0 romp against Ross County on January 2nd, the former QPR boss appears to have a real job on his hands at Pittodrie. Battling it out in the bottom-half of the table and coming under increasing scrutiny, Warnock will also have a mounting headache over his side’s glaring defensive issues. Including an action-packed 3-3 stalemate against Motherwell on February 14th, Wednesday’s hosts have shipped at least a pair of goals in all of their last four top-flight appearances. It should also be highlighted, Warnock’s men have seen all of their previous 13 contests across all formats finish with over 1.5 goals.

As for the visitors, continuing on what has been another extended Premiership struggle this season, St. Johnstone are facing a real scrap to keep hold of their top-flight status in 2024. Last seen over the weekend putting in another downbeat performance as they slumped to a 2-0 loss away at St. Mirren, the Saints have lost all of their previous four straight Premiership appearances. With their domestic blip underlined by a 2-1 defeat against Dundee earlier in the month, the Crag Levin has seen his struggling squad lose their last four top-flight showdowns by an aggregate score of 8-1. Likewise, recording just a single victory from any of their previous 10 Premiership outings, Levin’s side have also continued to show some glaring defensive issues this season. Failing to muster a top-flight clean sheet since the middle of December, the former Hearts boss has some mounting pressure on his shoulders. With Wednesday’s opponents playing out a 1-1 stalemate when they last met on January 24th, we are expecting a similar outcome here.

Bet: Over 1.5 goals at Aberdeen vs St. Johnstone 2/5 for Wednesday’s Scottish Premiership matchup @ 1xBet
