Two sides who have their sights set on securing a top-half finish this season, Augsburg will welcome Heidenheim to Bavaria on Saturday afternoon.

Starting with the hosts, while Augsburg might have shown some extended inconsistencies this season, Jess Thorup’s men are enjoying a recent boost. Last seen putting in a stunning performance away at relegation scrappers Darmstadt as they secured a 6-0 romp, the Bavaria-based outfit have clinched back-to-back Bundesliga victories for the first time since the end of October. Opening Saturday’s showdown holding a one-point buffer from slipping out of the top-half, the former Copenhagen boss has also seen his squad enjoy a real flurry in the final third. Notching eight goals in their consecutive top-flight wins, the red-hot Ermedin Demirovic should have a leading role to play this weekend. Notching a brace away at Darmstadt last week, the Bosnian international has now bagged six goals in as many domestic appearances. Likewise, registering 14 Bundesliga strikes this season and breezing his way to Augsburg’s Golden Boot, the 25-year-old is attracting plenty of summer interest.

As for the visitors, although Heidenheim might have signed off 2023 in the midst of a stunning purple patch, Frank Schmidt’s men have struggled to find a similar level since opening the New Year. Last seen slumping to a 2-1 defeat at home against Eintracht Frankfurt, the Reds have recorded just a single victory from any of their previous eight Bundesliga appearances. Although Saturday’s guests might have gained a string of plaudits since making their top-flight return this season, Heidenheim are also seeking some welcomed stability at the back. Including another 2-1 loss against runaway leaders Bayer Leverkusen last month, Schmidt’s side have recorded just a pair of clean sheets from any of their previous 12 Bundesliga showdowns – a run that stems back to November 26th. It should also be highlighted, the top-half hopefuls have recorded just a single domestic clean sheet on their travels so far this season.

Bet: Ermedin Demirovic 8/5 to score anytime against Heidenheim in Saturday’s Bundesliga battle @ BetUS
