Looking to make an immediate return to winning ways on Friday night, Borussia Dortmund will make the trip to Borussia Mönchengladbach when this weekend’s Bundesliga fixtures get underway.
Starting with the hosts, while Borussia Monchengladbach might have managed to open November with a much-needed 3-1 victory at home against Stuttgart, it appears that was just a minor boost for the German strugglers. Last seen over the weekend putting in another nightmare display as they were hit with a 2-1 loss away at Bochum, there is a huge amount of pressure on Daniel Farke’s shoulders. Slipping their way down the Bundesliga table, the former Norwich boss has now seen his downbeat squad lose four of their last five domestic contests. With that run underlined by a shock 2-1 loss away at second-tier outfit Darmstadt last month, Gladbach have also continued to show some extended issues at the back. It should be highlighted, Friday’s hosts have failed to record a single clean sheet since the middle of September.
As for the visitors, coming off the back of a sluggish 2-0 loss away at Wolfsburg earlier in the week, Borussia Dortmund will be seeking an immediate response on Friday night. However, while Edin Terzic’s men might have watched their unbeaten six-match unbeaten run come to an abrupt end last time out, the one-time West Ham coach has seen his side gain plenty of plaudits. Booking their spot in the knockout stage of this year’s Champions League, BVB will be boosted by their stellar previous meeting against Gladbach. It should be noted, when BVB welcomed Friday’s hosts to rural Germany back on February 20th, Terzic’s side picked up a thumping 6-0 romp.
