Competition: Ligue 1

Market: Brest win

Odds: 7/10 @ BetUS

Looking to make an immediate return to winning ways on Friday night, Brest will welcome Reims to the Stade Francis-Le Ble.

Starting with the hosts, sat in the driving seat to claim an astonishing Champions League ticket this month, Brest are enjoying what has been an iconic fairytale. Cementing their spot as one of Europe’s ultimate surprise packages this season, Eric Roy’s side find the mood in their camp at a red-hot high. Signing off April with a remarkable 4-3 victory away at Rennes, the Pirates will know the importance of making another statement of intent here. Although the Ligue 1 high-flyers might have registered just a single victory from any of their previous four showdowns against top-flight opposition, they will be excited by their continued success on home soil. Including another 4-3 win against Metz last month, Brest have suffered just a sole defeat from any of their previous 12 straight appearances at the Stade Francis-Le Ble. With that extended purple patch stemming all the way back to a 3-2 loss against French giants PSG on October 29th, Roy’s top-three contenders should be smelling a potential opportunity on Friday night.

As for the visitors, with it officially announced last week that Will Still has stepped down from his role in the Stade Auguste-Delaune, Reims have the feel of a squad limping their way over the finishing line. Last seen putting in a nightmare display away at Clermont as they slumped to a 4-1 drumming at the hands of Clermont, the Reds have come tumbling out the top-half of the Ligue 1 standings. With their recent issues highlighted by a 3-1 defeat against Strasbourg on April 13th, Reims have lost each of their last three appearances by an aggregate score of 9-3. In fact, along with collecting just a single victory from any of their previous eight consecutive outings, Friday’s guests should also be worried by their most recent showdown against the Champions League chasers. Hit with a 2-1 defeat when they welcomed Brest to town on September 17th, it should also be noted that they have failed to win any of their last five meetings against the Pirates.

Bet: Brest 7/10 to beat Reims in Friday’s Ligue 1 battle @ BetUS
