Competition: Serie A

Market: Over 1.5 goals

Odds: 4/9 @ BetUS

In what could prove to be an enjoyable affair from the Stadio Unipol Domus on Saturday afternoon, Lazio will make the trip to Cagliari.

Starting with the hosts, although Cagliari might have made their Serie A return this season, Claudio Ranieri’s side face a real battle to keep hold of their top-flight status. Last seen putting in another worrying display as they slumped to a 4-0 drumming at the hands of Roma, the former Leicester boss has seen his struggling squad lose all of their previous three Serie A appearances by an aggregate score of 9-2. With their glaring issues underlined by a 3-1 defeat against Frosinone on January 21st, the Islanders are tipped as a leading relegation contender in 2024. Opening Saturday’s showdown sat in the drop zone, Cagliari have continued to receive an unwanted reputation for their glaring defensive struggles. In fact, Ranieri’s men have shipped 42 strikes in their 23 Serie A appearances this season. Holding the second-worst defensive tally among Italy’s elite, Saturday’s hosts have also remarkably recorded just a single top-flight clean sheet since way back on September 17th.

As for the visitors, while Lazio might have opened the New Year in the midst of a welcomed boost, Maurizio Sarri’s men have come crashing back down to earth over the past few weeks. Crashing out of the Super Cup last month following a 3-0 loss at the hands of Inter Milan, the one-time Chelsea boss has found some mounting pressure on his shoulders. Almost sat in Serie A limbo and some distance off mounting another genuine Champions League charge, the Rome-based outfit are without a win from their previous three showdowns against top-flight opposition. Last seen putting in another downbeat display as they slumped to a 3-1 loss away at Atalanta, Sarri’s side have continued to show some extended issues on the road this season. Including a shock 2-1 defeat against Salernitana, Lazio have claimed just a pair of wins from any of their previous nine contests away from the Stadio Olimpico – a run that stems all the way back to October 21st.

Bet: Over 1.5 goals at Cagliari vs Lazio 4/9 for Saturday’s Serie A matchup @ BetUS
