Competition: League One

Market: Sheffield Wednesday win

Odds: 7/10 @ 888sport

Two sides who find themselves battling it out at opposite ends of the League One table, Sheffield Wednesday will make the trip to Cheltenham on Tuesday night.

Starting with the hosts, last seen over the weekend putting in another worrying display, Cheltenham find themselves in the midst of a nightmare run of form. Eventually getting hit with an action-packed 4-2 loss away at promotion contenders Plymouth, Wade Elliott’s men have come tumbling down the League One table. Now firmly looking over their shoulder at the drop zone, the Robins have lost four of their last five matchups across all formats. Likewise, opening 2023 with back-to-back 2-1 losses against Bristol Rovers and Morecambe, the Gloucestershire-based outfit have continued to show a string of rather glaring defensive issues. Along with shipping seven strikes in their consecutive third-tier defeats, it should also be noted that Cheltenham have recorded just a single clean sheet since back on December 13th.

As for the visitors, putting in yet another rugged display over the weekend as they claimed a 1-0 victory at home against Fleetwood, Sheffield Wednesday are enjoying a stellar purple patch. Now with their sights firmly set on securing a Championship return this year, Darren Moore’s men will find the mood in their camp at a real high. Securing a stunning FA Cup upset on January 7th as they picked up a 2-1 win against Champions League contenders Newcastle, the Owls should be smelling the chance to lay down another marker on Tuesday night. In fact, Moore’s side have now won each of their last six straight matchups across all formats. Likewise, shipping just a single strike since opening 2023 and holding a seven-point buffer from slipping out of the automatic promotion places, we’re backing an away victory here.

Bet: Sheffield Wednesday 7/10 to beat Cheltenham in Tuesday’s League One battle @ 888sport
