Bitesize Prediction: Clermont vs Lens – 25/11/23

Tom Dunstan in Betting Tips and News, Ligue 1 24 Nov 2023

Competition: Ligue 1

Market: Under 2.5 goals

Odds: 3/4 @ 1xBet

In what could be a cagey affair from the Stade Gabriel-Montpied on Saturday afternoon, Clermont will welcome Lens to town for a Ligue 1 showdown.

Starting with the hosts, although Clermont might have opened the 2023/24 campaign in the midst of a real Ligue 1 nightmare, Pascal Gastien’s side certainly claimed a welcomed boost prior to November’s international break. Heading into the fortnight interval with a gritty 1-0 victory at home against Lorient, the Lancers are unbeaten in each of their previous five top-flight appearances. With their recent turn in fortunes stemming all the way back to September 24th, the former Niort boss will be most excited by his side’s continued success at the back. Snatching an eye-catching 0-0 stalemate when they welcomed defending champions PSG to the Stade Gabriel-Montpied on September 30th, Clermont have also recorded back-to-back Ligue 1 clean sheets. However, bagging just a single strike in over 300 minutes of action, it should be highlighted that Gastien’s men have seen each of their last six straight appearances in front of their own supporters finish with under 2.5 goals.

As for the visitors, although Lens might face a real battle in their bid to punch a Champions League knockout stage ticket this season, Franck Haise’s side have claimed a welcomed domestic boost over the past couple of months. Heading into November’s international break with an eye-catching display as they landed a 1-0 victory at home against Marseille, Le Racing have lost just one of their previous 11 appearances across all competitions – a run that stems back to a 1-0 defeat against Metz back on September 16th. However, Saturday’s guests have shown some extended issues away from the Stade Bollaert-Delelis. Including a 1-0 loss away at Dutch giants PSV on November 8th, Lens have remarkably mustered just a single away victory so far this season. It is worth noting, with their last four away fixtures producing just two goals, we are backing chances to come at a real premium here.

Bet: Under 2.5 goals at Clermont vs Lens 3/4 for Saturday’s Ligue 1 matchup @ 1xBet
