Competition: Ligue 1

Market: Montpellier win

Odds: 19/20 @ 888sport

Hoping to extend on their recent flurry this weekend, Montpellier will welcome Clermont to the Stade de la Mosson on Sunday afternoon.

Starting with the hosts, while Montpellier might almost find themselves sat in Ligue 1 limbo, Michel Der Zakarian’s men are enjoying an extended purple patch. Last seen putting in another professional display as they claimed a 1-0 victory away at AC Ajaccio, La Paillade have skyrocketed their way from any potential relegation scrap. With the mood around the Stade de la Mosson at a season-high, there is no doubt that the Occitanie-based outfit should be smelling a real chance on Sunday afternoon. In fact, along with opening March with a stunning display on home soil as they clinched a 5-0 romp against Angers, Montpellier have collected 13 points from their last five Ligue 1 showdowns. It should also be highlighted, Der Zakarian’s side have shipped just a single strike on their five-match unbeaten run.

As for the visitors, although Clermont might have claimed a much-needed 1-0 victory away at Toulouse on March 5th, Pascal Gastien’s men came crashing back down to earth last weekend. Putting in a woeful display on home soil as they were hit with a 4-0 drumming at home against Lens, the Lancers have continued to struggle since returning from the World Cup’s winter break. It should be highlighted, the one-time Niort boss has seen his downbeat squad claim just a single win from any of their last eight domestic contests – a run that stems all the way back to January 15th. Showing some rather glaring struggles in the final third and recording just a pair of goals on their eight-match blip, Clermont should face a tricky test on Sunday afternoon. Given the recent gulf in class, we are backing a home victory here.

Bet: Montpellier 19/20 to beat Clermont in Sunday’s Ligue 1 matchup @ 888sport
