Looking to make it back-to-back Ligue 1 victories on Friday night, Lille will make the trip to the Stade de la Beaujoire when they meet Nantes.

Starting with the hosts, shocking almost everyone across France last season as they lifted the Coupe de France back in May, Nantes have their sights set on clinching another top-half finish this year. However, hit with a thumping 4-0 drumming when they faced off against PSG in the Super Cup on July 31st, the Canaries also opened the 2022/23 campaign with a toothless display. Having to settle for a 0-0 stalemate away at Angers last weekend, Head Coach Antoine Kombouaré did witness his squad show some issues at the back end of last season. Mustering just a pair of wins from their final nine Ligue 1 contests, Nantes should also be worried by their most recent showdown against Friday’s guests. It should be noted, when they welcomed Lille to the Stade de la Beaujoiren four months ago, Kombouaré’s men were hit with a 1-0 loss.

As for the visitors, left frustrated last season after only just scrapping a top-half finish, Lille are desperate to clinch a European return this time around. Opening up the new Ligue 1 campaign with a thumping display as they cruised their way to a 4-1 romp at home against Auxerre, Head Coach Paulo Fonseca will be calling on his side to keep up that momentum here. Likewise, bagging an impressive brace last weekend and receiving a string of admirers this summer, the ex-Roma boss will be calling on Jonathan David to spearhead his charge on Friday night. Racking up 15 top-flight strikes last season, it is worth keeping an eye out for the 22-year-old Canadian international here. With Lille landing that 1-0 victory when they made the trip to the Stade de la Beaujoiren on March 19th, we’re backing an away draw no bet here.

Bet: Lille draw no bet against Nantes 4/5 for Friday’s Ligue 1 showdown @ 888sport
