Competition: French Super Cup

Market: PSG win & Both teams to score

Odds: 13/8 @ Pribet

With the French Super Cup up for grabs on Wednesday night, PSG will welcome Toulouse to the Parc des Princes.

Starting with the hosts, while Nice might have caused PSG some mild headaches this season, it is no surprise that the French icons are tipped as a landslide contender to defend their Ligue 1 crown in 2024. Last seen heading into the festive interval with a 3-1 victory at home against Metz, Luis Enrique’s side are already holding a five-point buffer over the chasing pack. Eventually punching a Champions League knockout stage ticket last month and avoiding what would have been major European scrutiny, the former Barcelona boss will be confident of claiming a first piece of silverware of the season here. Losing just one of their previous 14 appearances across all competitions – a run that stems all the way back to October 4th – PSG have also gained a real reputation for their continued success on home soil. Along with signing off November with a stellar 5-2 romp against Monaco, Enrique’s men have collected 25 points from their last nine showdowns at the Parc des Princes across all formats.

As for the visitors, although Toulouse might have shocked many as they punched a Europa League knockout stage ticket last month, the Violets are in the midst of a major domestic nightmare. Opening the New Year battling it out in the relegation zone and two points adrift of top-flight safety, Carles Novell has a real job on his hands in 2024. Last seen heading into the festive break with a 2-1 loss at home against Monaco, the one-time Barcelona coach has seen his squad win just a pair of their last 14 straight appearances across all competitions. Knowing that they face a monumental challenge on Wednesday night, Novell’s side will also be concerned by a woeful record in Paris. Hit with a 2-1 defeat when they last travelled to the Parc des Princes back in February, it should also be noted that Toulouse have lost all of their previous four trips to the capital by an aggregate score of 13-3.
