France manager Laurent Blanc was still pleased despite his side’s inability to defeat Chile in Montpellier on Wednesday.
Blanc’s men led through Loic Remy’s 20th-minute strike, but the visitors hit back through substitute Nicolas Cordova’s late effort to salvage a 1-1 draw.
The result extended France’s unbeaten streak to 11 matches and Blanc was content with what his side produced.
“You can always do better, but I’m pretty happy with the effort of my players,” Blanc told TF1 after the match.
”They have excellent players and we have all witnessed a fun game. There were scoring opportunities and two goals.”
Blanc said he had been surprised at the way Chile approached the match, but he refused to comment on the performance of the officials after a Kevin Gameiro goal was controversially ruled out for offside.
”I did not expect their usual physical side,” he said.
”They only got a few days rest after the Copa America. But I knew we were still in for a great contest.”
