AC Milan midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng has been invited to the United Nations’ international day for the elimination of racism.

The event, which was first organised in 1966, will take place at the National Building in Geneva on March 21, and will focus on racism in sport.

The invitation comes in the wake of the former Ghana international’s decision to walk off the pitch in Milan’s friendly against Pro Patria after he was racially abused by supporters.

The Italian Football League announced earlier this week that it would not take action against Boateng or Milan following the events against Pro Patria.

Boateng’s action was met with approval by several high-profile names in the footballing world, but FIFA president Sepp Blatter warned that walking off the pitch is not the right answer to racism in his opinion.
