Ajax left-back Nicolai Boilesen has been ruled out of the Eredivisie side’s Europa League clash with Manchester United on Thursday.

Boilesen – who only returned to the pitch from injury in their first-leg with United in the final-32 – has been ruled out of their second-leg trip to Old Trafford due to a hamstring injury.

The 20-year-old Denmark international returned to action after a five-month spell on the sidelines, but complained about pain in the same hamstring after the final whistle in United’s 2-0 win.

Boilesen consequently missed last weekend’s 4-1 Eredivisie win over NEC, and a scan has now revealed that the full-back will be out of action for three weeks due to the ailment, ANP has reported.

Ajax are already without first-team regulars Gregory van der Wiel, Eyong Enoh, Derk Boerrigter and Kolbeinn Sigthorsson for the match at Old Trafford due to injury, while Theo Janssen and Dmitry Bulykin are both doubtful.
