Juventus striker Marco Borriello has spoken of his joy at earning a loan switch to the Turin-based outfit.

Borriello has joined Juventus until the end of the season, with the Serie A giants securing the option to sign the Roma-owned striker on a permanent basis in June for 8 million euros.

“I am truly honoured to be here,” he told Juventus Channel. “It is definitely a great recognition from one of the most prominent teams in the world and therefore it is very exciting to be here.”

The 29-year-old, who had grown out of favour at Roma, then commented on Antonio Conte’s side, who are joint leaders in Serie A with AC Milan.

“This is certainly a balanced team, solid, battling, with hunger and they always play with added rhythm,” he noted.

“They have greatly surprised me, and I hope that this team will enable me to express my qualities in the best possible way.”

Borriello also underlined that his decision to join Roma instead of Juventus in 2010 was because the Bianconeri were uninterested in offering him a permanent deal at the time.

“I would like to tell the fans that I never turned Juventus down, because Juventus are a club you cannot say no to,” he explained.

“I can only say that at that particular time a permanent transfer was the preferred option and therefore an agreement could not be reached with Milan, so I never turned Juventus down.

“I do not want to say anything more to the fans, because actions speak louder than words. I prefer to show what I can do on the pitch and honour this shirt in the best possible way.”
