Australian Eddy Bosnar is set to move to Korean side Suwon Bluewings in the hopes of reviving his chances with his country’s national team.

Bosnar spent the past two seasons with J.League club Shimizu S-Pulse, scoring eight goals in 47 matches as a mainstay centre-back for the Shizuoka team.

The deal, expected to be announced soon, will see the former Junior Socceroo join the four-time K-League and two-time Asian champions, a team he described as ‘massive’.

“If the move goes ahead I think it gives me a good chance of getting back in the Socceroos picture,” the 31-year-old said.

“The facilities at Suwon are better than anything I have seen in Japan and it would give me a chance to play at a higher level.”

Before joining S-Pulse, Bosnar played for two seasons at then-J1 side JEF United Chiba.

In addition to Bluewings, S-Pulse received offers from several Korean teams as well as Qatari and UAE clubs.

With the Australian’s departure, S-Pulse manager Afshin Ghotbi is pushing the front office to fill the now-vacant foreigner spot with ‘a player capable of scoring 15 goals or more’.
