Werder Bremen are closing in on the signing of Austria Vienna playmaker Zlatko Junuzovic as they look to bolster their midfield options.
Juzunovic’s performances at both club level and for Austria have earned the 24-year-old mantle of ‘The Austrian Oezil’ in his homeland’s press, due to the similarities between his and the Germany international’s style of play.
According to Oberosterreichische Nachrichten, Juzunovic will sign for the Bundesliga side on a free transfer in June, and the Yugoslavia-born player has admitted he would like to challenge himself in Germany.
“The Bundesliga would be a good jump, it is my goal. Werder would be a great honour,” Junuzovic told Bild.
Going into the winter break, Werder Bremen sit in fifth place on the Bundesliga table, four points adrift of the Champions League places.
