Socceroo Tim Cahill has reiterated his commitment to his country stating he will keep playing for Australia until his body no longer lets him.

The 31-year-old Everton midfielder netted for Australia in last week’s 2-1 friendly win over Wales, and is now within five goals of the nation’s all-time leading scorer Damian Mori, who has 29 goals to his name.

Cahill, who struggled through the second-half of the 2010-11 campaign at Everton after suffering a foot injury at the 2011 Asian Cup with Australia, told the Daily Star he wants to keep on wearing the green and gold for a long time yet and would love to claim Mori’s record.

“I won’t stop playing until my body stops,” Cahill said.

“It`s a big thing for us to play for Australia and you do it whenever you can. It has given me some of the best moments of my life and I won`t give that up.”

“It is not in my mentality to stop. Would you say to Steven Gerrard or John Terry or any of the top players for England that now you are 31, will you stop playing for England?”

“I am now close to Damian Mori’s goals record for Australia – and I would love to beat it.”

“I love football. You try as hard as you can for your club and your country, too.”

Cahill’s next opportunity to represent his country will be in early next month, when Australia begin their World Cup qualifying campaign against Thailand (September 2) and Saudi Arabia (September 7).
