Cahill signs new contract

Bolton Wanderers defender Gary Cahill has signed a new three-year contract with the Premier League side.

The 23-year-old has impressed since joining Bolton from Aston Villa 18 months ago, and has been linked with the likes of Everton and Tottenham.

“We’re delighted to keep Gary because I’ve always said I want to build the team around him,” said Bolton boss Gary Megson.

“He’s been monitored by a lot of big clubs, so his decision to stay is one of the best signings we could have made.

“I believe he’s easily the best young centre-back in the country.”
