Corinthians won their fifth-straight game in the Campeonato Paulista on Wednesday with a 2-1 triumph over Catanduvense.

After a goal-less first half, Catanduvense stunned the home crowd at the Estadio Municipal Paulo Machado de Carvalho when Dairo scored just eight minutes after the break.

Corinthians have yet to lose in the Sao Paulo state championship this season, but left it late to secure their fifth win in a row.

First 23-year-old midfielder Paulinho scored in the 80th minute, before Danilo completed the home side’s comeback with a goal in injury time.

The victory means Corinthians are on top of the table with 26 points and have a game in hand on their closest rivals.

Santos, who are second, also won to stay within two points of the Campeonato Paulista-leaders.

Ibson gave Santos the lead after just six minutes at Guarani’s home ground, while Arouca wrapped up the 2-0 victory over the fourth-placed club with a goal in the 89th minute.

Guarani’s loss allowed Mogi Mirim to move above the club from Campinas after their 3-1 come-from-behind victory over Portuguesa.

The visitors hit the front in the third minute through Henrique, but that lead lasted just seven minutes before 22-year-old midfielder Rene equalised for Mogi Mirim.

Felipe made it 2-1 with just two minutes to go in the first half, while a second-half penalty from Hernane finished Portuguesa off.

Mogi Mirim are on 22 points, the same as Guarani, but are ahead on goal difference.

In other results on Wednesday, Palmeiras beat Linense 3-1, Bragantino beat Comercial 2-1, Ituano defeated Paulista 3-2 and Mirassol thumped bottom-club XV de Piracicaba 3-0.
