Corinthians continued their perfect start to the Campeonato Paulista with a 1-0 win over Ituano on Wednesday.v
A 32nd-minute goal from midfielder Paulinho saw Corinthians make it four wins from as many games to start the campaign.
It was their third consecutive clean sheet, with the win ensuring they retained their two-point lead atop the table.
Meanwhile, Paulista stayed second after a brace from Danilo guided them to a 2-1 victory at Mirassol.
Danilo opened the scoring in the eighth minute, only for Xuxa to equalise for Mirassol from the penalty spot.
But Danilo restored his team’s advantage with a 43rd-minute spot-kick and they held on to their advantage.
In other matches, a double from former Roma midfielder Marcos Assuncao led Palmeiras to a 2-0 win at home to Mogi Mirim.
Forward Elionar Bombinha hit an 84th-minute winner as Comercial edged Catanduvense 2-1, while Giancarlo and Ananias exchanged goals as Bragantino and Portuguesa drew 1-1.
Guaratingueta took their first points of the campaign as their 2-1 win at home to Botafogo helped them off the bottom of the table.
XV de Piracicaba held on for a 1-1 draw at Sao Caetano, relinquishing a 54th-minute lead given to them by Andre Cunha.
Preto Costa equalised for the hosts, but they were unable to find a winner despite having a man advantage after Toninho was sent off in the 79th minute.
