Tottenham could have a new signing before the start of the season with Etienne Capoue saying he has passed a medical with the club.

The French midfielder is expected to be officially unveiled as a Tottenham player in coming days, completing a switch from Ligue 1 outfit Toulouse.

“There is only some paperwork to sign now,” the 25-year-old told Sky Sports News.

“I will be at the training ground tomorrow.

“Tottenham is a super club. It’s the best club to continue my career. It should be official very quickly now.”

Capoue, who played in France’s 0-0 draw with Belgium on Wednesday, is a crafty midfielder who will add to an impressive batch of recruits by Andre Villas-Boas in the off-season.

Spain striker Roberto Soldado, Brazil midfielder Paulinho and Belgium winger Nacer Chadli have already arrived at White Hart Lane.

Capoue’s capture will add some much needed re-enforcement to the Tottenham midfield after Tom Huddlestone and Jake Livermore joined Hull.

Spurs kick off their English Premier League campaign with an away clash against newly promoted Crystal Palace on Sunday.
